What is Nearshoring?
For almost 30 years, nearshoring has been an eloquent means of counteracting the well-known shortage of skilled workers in the IT and engineering sectors and thus remaining competitive. In addition, considerable costs can be saved due to the wage gap. So it is not surprising that larger corporations such as banks, insurance companies and industrial companies have been outsourcing functions for years, not only in offshoring, but also in nearshoring in particular. This practice is also suitable for medium-sized SMEs and can create long-lasting partnerships with benefits for all parties involved.
But what exactly is nearshoring? In contrast to onshoring (which takes place at your location) and offshoring (in distant countries such as India, Pakistan, etc.), nearshoring tries to combine the advantages of both worlds. This means, on the one hand, a proximity to the team and better management but also relevant cost savings on the other. That is why we define nearshoring on the basis of travel times – anything up to 4 hours of travel time is nearshoring, as these locations are easy to reach, and you don’t have to overcome too many time zones.
Many competitors also point out similar mentality in case of nearshoring. It remains to be seen to what extent this view can be met; because, in our opinion, Spaniards, Greeks or Bulgarians have a slightly different mentality than e.g. Germans or Swiss. This is not to be understood as a negative feature either, but you have to be able to deal with it. Our customers can therefore trust that we have been present in our locations for many years and that we also employ local staff. We are therefore not only multilingual, but also operate in a familiar environment.
